- The Lodging and Food Service Industry
This course is designed to prepare students for careers in hospitality by presenting and describing opportunities in hospitality management. These opportunities include careers in various businesses, including hotels, restaurants, institutions, private clubs, casinos, consulting firms, travel agencies, and cruise ships.
- Supervision in the Hospitality Industry
This course introduces students to the supervisory skills needed to succeed in a career in hospitality. Students will learn procedures for managing conflict; expanded information on motivation, including a discussion of onboarding; new information on the role of technology and social media in recruiting and reference checks; new information on the costs and benefits of training; and a discussion of the use of technology for employee scheduling, including scheduling software and company intranets.
- Convention Management and Service
This course is an invaluable resource that will enable students and hospitality professionals to stay current in the ever-changing meetings and conventions industry. We offer students practical insight into various types of meetings and conventions, the types of organizations that stage these events, and how to reach and sell to this important group segment. Moreover, students will learn the various aspects of convention service and how to ensure an event flows smoothly.
- Leadership and Management in the Hospitality Industry
This course teaches students how to improve their leadership abilities and develop an understanding of high-performance teams and employee empowerment. It also provides a sense of diversity and cultural change. Practical information prepares future leaders to implement quality management tools to enhance guest service and increase profitability while helping them achieve great personal satisfaction in their work lives.
- Managing Front Office Operations
This course presents a systematic approach to front office procedures by detailing business flow through a hotel, from the reservations process to check-out and account settlement. It also examines the various elements of effective front office management, particularly concerning the planning and evaluation of front office operations and human resources management. Front office procedures and management are placed within a hotel’s overall operation.
- Managing Housekeeping Operations
This course is designed to provide students with the principles of housekeeping management as they apply specifically to the hospitality industry.
- Managing Hospitality Human Resources
This course provides an overview of human resource management and its critical role in the hospitality and tourism industry. Students will learn the skills hospitality professionals require, starting with employment laws and applications, job analysis and design, recruiting and selection, and managing and retaining qualified employees. Orientation and socialization, training and development, employee performance evaluation, compensation and benefits administration, labour unions, turnover, discipline, and exits will also be introduced.
- Hospitality Sales and Marketing
This course is designed to provide students with accurate and authoritative information and a basic understanding of sales and marketing in the hospitality industry. Students are introduced to proven marketing strategies and examine how these strategies apply to marketing hospitality services and products. We also provide students with a clear understanding of internal marketing, sales, advertising, public relations, and publicity.
- Revenue Management
This course will give students a basic understanding of the revenue management process. It addresses the proper use and importance of revenue management in hospitality operations and describes the wide range of elements that must be considered to use revenue management effectively.
- Security and Loss Prevention Management
This course examines the need for individualized hotel security programs, a wide variety of security and safety equipment and procedures, guest protection and internal security for asset protection, risk management and loss prevention issues, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations that apply to lodging properties in the USA and Canada.
- Managing Service in Food and Beverage Operations
This course prepares students with the knowledge to oversee the provision of quality dining service and to meet the challenges facing professional managers. Students will be introduced to responsible alcohol service, menu development, sanitation, safety, security, health and legal issues, and labour and revenue control considerations. In addition, students will be given an insight into the major market segments of onsite food and beverage management operations.
- Hotel and Restaurant Accounting
This course is designed to give students a clear view of the significant changes in financial information processing that characterize 21st-century accounting. Students will learn the professional business vocabulary and financial management skills required in the hospitality industry. Because profits are essential to the survival and growth of any business, students will become aware of how accounting provides information to owners and management so they can make prudent, intelligent business decisions.

- ✔ Applicants must have completed grade 12 or equivalent or have mature student status (at least 19 years old).
✔ Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through prior education in English at grade 10 level or higher or through an English language assessment (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent). The approximate equivalent to other English evaluation tests may include Cambridge, Canadian Language Benchmarks, CELPIP TOEFL; Track Test (CEFR), and others.
- Standardized Test Scores: ELTS (Academic) – 5.5+, TOEIC – 85, TOEFL iBT – 46-59, TOEFL PBT – 310, CELPIP = 6, Duolingo – 85-90, Eiken – Pre-1, Cambridge FCE+, CEFR (ie tracktest) – B2, PTE – 43-50.
