The Business Management & Digital Marketing Certificate program covers the fundamentals of working in any business environment and provides you with the managerial skills that companies want.

The specialization in digital marketing allows you to further differentiate yourself in today’s competitive job market, setting you on the path to management success within the digital marketing industry.

Career City College’s digital marketing certificate covers a wide range of digital marketing courses, such as digital marketing strategy, email marketing, Google Ads, Google Analytics, and search engine marketing, preparing students for a successful career in the digital marketing field.

  • Applicants must have completed grade 12 or equivalent or have mature student status (at least 19 years old).
  • Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through any one of the following:
    1. Completion of grades 9-11, including English 11 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher from a country where English is one of the principal languages; or
    2. Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction; or
    3. Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program.
        • IELTS Academic: overall score of 5.5 or higher.
        • CAEL Test: overall score of 40 or above
        • Duolingo English Test: overall score of 95 or above
        • TOEFL iBT – 46 or above
        • CELPIP: Minimum scores – Listening-6 Speaking-6 Reading-5 Writing-5
        • Eiken – Pre-1
        • Cambridge FCE+ – 160 or C | Cambridge Linguaskill – B2 or above
        • PTE – 43 or above
        • iTEP Academic – 3.5 or above
        • Mature student applicants:

      Applicant is 19 years or older at the start of the program and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who cannot access is their educational records or provide sufficient evidence of secondary or post-secondary education as outlined above:

        • applicant provides attestation that they have completed at least three years of full-time instruction in English in a country where the English is one of the principal languages, and
        • Applicant completes an Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation:
          Reading, Writing and WritePlacer) and achieves the following minimum scores:
          Reading: 230
          Writing: 230
          WritePlacer: 4

BMD200 – Business Management & Entrepreneurship
This course introduces students to the principles and practices required for business management. It follows the lifecycle of an entrepreneurial venture—from concept through implementation to harvesting or replication. It then moves further into the entrepreneurial process, discussing the business plan and the unique aspects of managing and growing entrepreneurial ventures and small businesses.

BMD250 – Business Management Advanced
This course teaches students how to manage the different cycles of business. It identifies the importance of strategic business management. Students will evaluate the effectiveness of a marketing plan and how it successfully communicates the company’s value proposition to the target market. It teaches about successful approaches to managing business operations. Students will also learn about the fundamentals of accounting and the financial operations of a business. This course will cover human resources management and teach how leadership will contribute to a more productive and healthier workplace.

BMD160 – Business Language & Communication
This course introduces students to business English and communication in a business environment. It identifies appropriate grammar, various business jargon, and common communication errors within the business environment. Students will discover how business communication differs from personal and social communication and how today’s companies use many new-age written communication techniques.

BMD165 – Business Writing
This course is designed to provide students with all the information and practice they need to communicate effectively in the business world. It features a stronger focus on written English through drafting messages and various other business forms. Students will also learn how to compose the most critical business documents in their lives, namely a persuasive resume and cover letter.

DMC100 – Digital Marketing Fundamentals
This course will highlight the dependence on digital marketing in business and corporate strategy. Students will become familiar with the importance of branding, the critical components of brand identity, and how to create a Unique Selling Proposition (USP). This course will also describe common purposes for various digital marketing channels, audiences, and reach.

DMC200 – Social Media Marketing Strategies Core
Social media as a marketing tool can make or break a brand’s image and has rapidly become the channel of choice for companies to reach their target audience. This course’s primary focus is learning how to choose the right social media platform and how best to utilize the features offered.

DMC300 – Social Media Marketing Strategies Advanced
Select social media platforms based on how businesses can best use them to reach a targeted demographic. Learn how to implement social media strategies to create a successful social media campaign and represent a brand. Students will curate the best content for each social media channel and create and design appealing content to attract engagement and build a following.

DMC330 – Social Media Branding
This course presents the concept of creative brand positioning. It outlines the importance of creativity in advertising and how it contributes to a successful ad campaign. It outlines the application of strategic marketing, considering the target market audience, advertising platforms and purpose of the ad. This course will illustrate the creative strategy planning process. And identify the positioning concepts of market positioning strategy. Students will specifically learn the different types of message appeals that advertisers use to persuade their target audience and develop promotional messaging.

DMC500 – Strategic Web Design
Students will gain an understanding of website design and how websites are built. They will learn newer methods to deliver and display unique and increasingly complex sites that appeal to a wide variety of demographics. They will learn to use website templates, HTML5 programming, and WordPress. Students will build a fully functional website that showcases their talents.

DMC510 – Writing for the Web Content Development
Reading online is a very different experience from reading print. Thus, even strong writers must discover how to tailor their content to the digital environment. This text will provide an in-depth look into the process of writing compelling copy, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and editing. Also, from white papers to eNewsletters, students will discover how to create content for various web purposes while learning how to optimize it and capture the target audience’s attention. Video storyboarding, scripting, and how to promote content will also be examined.

DMC520 – Search Engine Optimization
Moving beyond basic keywords and PPC marketing, SEO looks deeper into what businesses need to do to get their content in front of their target audience. This course takes a broad view of the subject covering more than Google, incorporating SEO strategies across multiple platforms and geographic regions.

BMD180 – Customer Relationship Management
This course introduces students to customer relationship management and establishes the importance of customer service in relation to sales and business. Students will learn about the service profession, be able to identify skills for success and learn how to build and maintain good customer relationships.

BMD280 – Sales Strategies & Marketing
This course introduces students to marketing and establishes the importance of sales strategies in marketing. Students learn high-performance sales strategies and learn about the importance of planning.

DMC560 – Digital Marketing Portfolio
The digital marketing portfolio course allows students to culminate their work throughout the Digital Marketing course and create a presentation portfolio that will feature their work. This presentation portfolio will serve as a professional presentation tool when applying for jobs and/or working as a consultant with clients. It will allow the students to be creative in their personal branding and showcase their work. It will also allow students to be work-ready with a digital marketing portfolio before completing their program.

GEN130 – Design Principles & Presentations
This course introduces students to the basic design principles. It helps them develop skills in creating and manipulating highly functional multimedia presentations. It also teaches students useful language in presentations, providing an opportunity for students to improve and enhance their presentation skills. This course will prepare them to give professional presentations.

GEN150 – Career Planning
This course introduces strategies for career planning, including strength analysis, resume writing, personal branding, and interview skills improvements. It allows students to strategically prepare for the next steps after completing their program.
